An evening in Paris :)

So today we went and saw the Mona Lisa at the Museum de Louvre! that place is huge and amazing! We just could not get through the entire thing, I mean there is so much to see there! We did what we could. So many people there!

Afterwards we wandered the streets of Paris, had some coffee and decided to head back to our hotel to rest for a bit and dry off! It's been raining here..

After we rested up we got ready to head over to the Eiffel Tower :) amazing! We went to the top, saw the views, took some pictures and froze our heads off! I got some video of the glittering tower, which happens at the top of each hour! So pretty!

We are the move again tomorrow. I will update more details tomorrow!

Time to get some sleep.

C'est la vie!

Cafes, crepes, Notre Dame, pasteries, the Eiffel Tower, Sein River,
the list goes on and on. There are so many amazing sites here in
Paris! Sri and I walked the city today and saw so many things! It is
raining here but still so beauitful. I took a picture of the amazing
Eiffel Tower with my iPhone, but we got some cool pictures with our
camera!

There is so much to see and do here! Tomorrow we are going to the
Musee du Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, and some other historic sites here!
We are going to go to a fancy French dinner as well :)

Sri is attemping his luck with the French language, it's great! He
asks questions in French and then gets a response in French and then
sits there and has no idea what the person said to him, pretty amusing
to watch :)

We are resting in our hotel room for a bit and then off to shop a
little, grab some dinner and see the city of lights at night!

Ciao :)

Top of Europe!

Today turned out to be an amazing day! Sri and I decided last night, that we wanted to see the Swiss Alps, so it was just a matter of picking which form of transportation we were willing to pay for. There is a tram that goes to the top from one small town here in Switzerland, and there is a train, that literally climbs the mountain to the summit 11,000 Feet. I said to Sri since we are already here might as well go all the way to the top. We asked the tourism office and the lady told, if it is cloudy up there, there is not much to see and she is not sure if paying so much would be worth it... Sri and I decided cloudy or not, we were going to take the train ride up!

So this morning we got up at 5 AM, took a train from Bern, Switzerland to Interlaken, Switzerland. Interlaken is just like a town in Tahoe. All the shops are here just to cater to the tourists... They have a Hooters! here, haha! So the hour train ride to Interlaken, was fun and once we got to Interlaken, Sri and I dropped our bags off at our hotel and continued our journey to the Top of Europe.

Three train rides and two and half hours later, is what it would take to get to the top of this mountain. I mean literally these trains go to the top of a HUGE mountain. The Swiss started to build this train line in 1896 and it took 16 years to finish the entire route. I can not tell you how amazing this is for people. We can now go from 1000 Feet to 11,000 Feet in a heated, comfortable journey in two hours, and once we arrive in the top, there is a restaurant, store, heated views, and of course the amazing beautiful out doors! I think if you are ever in Switzerland, this is something you HAVE to do, amazing!

Once at the top of the mountain, Sri and I went to find the summit outdoors, and boy were we in for a surprise. We had on the most clothes we thought was needed, but we did not bring our ski clothes or gloves, bad move ;) We could literally only stand outside for two minutes, because the temp was at -10' C and the wind was blowing at 41 mph! I mean COLD! I have never felt COLD like this before and I was wearing my ski jacket! We took some video and I have uploaded these pics for a quick view of what we experienced!

I wish we had our ski clothes, we would have skied the Alps but the journey to the top of the Mountain took a total of six hours! There was a huge crowd of skiers and snow boarders, all doing some amazing trails! So much mountain and white powder! It also started to snow, I have not seen snow fall in I dont even know how long! Just a great experience! It was worth every penny and Sri and I decided we are coming back to Ski these slopes one day!

So we have done just about everything we want to in Switzerland and are thinking of moving onto our next country, FRANCE! I can't wait!!

TIme to eat some Mexican Food, so bye for now!

Vienna to Bern

So we made it to Bern, Switzerland! It was a 11 hour train ride, but
great to see the country! Also met a very cool canadian lady traveling
the same route with her kids! She was really nice!

We only spent a day in Vienna. We walked around, saw the local
shopping street, catherdals(picture below), castles and of course
starbucks! We had very yummy gelato and then basically decided to move
on to our next country.

Hence we are in Bern! This place is beautiful! The Swiss Alps as our
background, the buildings, train system, all are so cool!

Today we did a city walkig tour, which went through local history,
Einstein's house and the Einstein museum! It's rainy and cold here,
but very crisp clean air, loving it!

Tomorrow Sri and I are going to go into the Alps, top of the mountain,
11,000 feet via tram :) really excited to see that view!

More tmr! We are deciding now what o do for dinner as we sip a warm
latte and enjoy our Internet break @ starbucks! :)

Bye Bye Prague, Hello Vienna

Hi All! So here is a quick update.

We spent our last day in Prague once again walking around the city, seeing some of the great sites again, and finding great spots for picture opportunities for Sri. We climbed the Prague tower which was about 150 steps to the top, then walked the Charles Bridge again, watched the hourly astronomical clock celebration and danced with the square locals to Hare Krishnas, interesting. We finished our stay in Prague with an awesome chocolate banana crepe!

We took an overnight train from Prague to Vienna, Austria! We arrived in Austria at 6:30 AM and went straight to our hotel. Thank god these hotel people are super generous, they allowed us to enter our hotel room 6 hours before check in time! Sri and I got into the room and went straight to bed :) On the overnight train, it was very hard to sleep, because we had to share our compartment with someone else. So finally we got up and decided to walk around Vienna. We walked towards the Vienna cathedral, and the infamous shopping strip. We had lunch and dinner on this strip and some yummy gelato. Since Vienna is very much like Prague, Sri and I really want to get to Switzerland, so we are planning on leaving tomorrow via train. We will keep you guys posted on our location!

Here is a picture of our last day in Prague!

Happy Belated 2nd bday Talin! Sorry we missed it!

Prague

We spent the entire day today walking around Prague. We left our hotel and walked along the River which lead us to Charles Bridge. There are tons of artists on this bridge, selling their artwork and crafts! It was nice weather so many many people were out and about. We continued walking towards the Prague Castle. The castle is nestled high up on a hill, so Sri and I walked our way up there. We stopped and had lunch at a local place, the food was alright... It was amazing once we got to the castle. There were tons of tourists and people everywhere. From the Castle Sri and I walked towards the Prague square, where there was a Astronomical Clock. There are Easter celebrations all over the streets of Prague. They also had a local concert going, which we watched for a bit. We kept walking and walking and then ended up at the Prague museum again.

Prague is a beautiful place. The buildings, the cobble stone streets and the architecture, all are amazing! The train, subway system is very easy to use as well!

Sri decided he would like to learn more about the history of Prague so tomorrow we are going to take a tour of the city to get more information about the castle, bridges, clock tower and city. One more day in Prague and then we are off to Austria.

My camera battery died today, so I did not get many pictures, and Sri's pictures are mostly in RAW format, so its hard to upload those. I am going to try and do this soon!

More Soon!

Prague museum

We are in Prague now. It's a very pretty place. Going to do a tour of
the city tomorrow. This place isn't that cheap, besides the hotel
which was only 26 euros a night, the food is pretty pricy. We had
pizza, bruschetta and beer and it cost around $40... Anyway I think
this place is still cheaper than Ireland.

Btw, we took ryanair to Prague . Must be the worst flight I ever took.
Made us checkiny carryon and charged us an extra 35 euros, an the
flight was cramped, and noisy. Anyway I will end this post on a good
note, the pizza I had was on par with amici's!

Lord of the RINGS :)

We spent the entire day in Killarney, Ireland. We took a bus tour of the Ring of Kerry. It is a 116K drive in the shape of a ring, which goes along the oceanside. We saw century old ruins, the oceanside and an amazing waterfall. It was a six and half hour bus ride, long but worth it!

We are going to be boarding our train back to Dublin for the night and then off to Prague. We will post pictures. For now here is one from the past couple of days.

More Later!!

Horse and buggy!

Sri and I arrived in Killarney, Ireland this afternoon. We took a
three and half hour train ride from Dublin to here. It was awesome
seeing the country side of Ireland! So much green!

Once we got into this town, we taxied to our hotel, the taxi drivers
are so nice, they give you mini tours as we drive through town! Once
we got to the hotel, Sri decided to rest for 30 minutes.. I was
anxious to see the sights and castles so I woke him up and we decided
to head over to some of the famous sites!

We asked the lady at The front desk the best way to get into town, she
suggested we walk, 5k, she said should only take us 20 minutes! Ha!
Well it was an amazing path, beauiful trees and valleys. Reminded me
of hiking a much greener, with more trees, Mission Peak! Once we got
into town we had a great lunch, very fresh warm food and then we
decided to walk around the small town. We happened to walk into a cafe
which literally opened their doors for business two hours before, so
all drinks and chocolates were complimentry! People here are so
friendly.

It started to rain but I still wanted to go see the Ross Castle and I
really wanted to ride the horse and carriage :) So we decided instead
if walking the 2.5k to the infamous Ross Castle we would horse and
buggy it! How fun! It was raining and beauitful! Below is a picture
from my iPhone of the 15th century castle. It was great!

Our horse driver was a character as well, Michael and his horse Whiskey!

Great times! We are now in a small cafe, thinking about what to do
next. We will be in Killarney, Ireland until Sunday night and Then
back to Dublin for the night and off the Prague Monday morn!

More later! Sorry for all the errors, I am
Typing this on my iPhone.

Dublin, Ireland

We have been in Dublin, Ireland for two days now. The city is nice. We have met many locals who are all very friendly and helpful. Sri and I have learned the public transportation system, The Dart, which is great! Its a 2 minute walk to the Dart station from our hotel and it takes us from Southern Dublin, to the Northern part. I love trains, you can see so much of the out skirts of the towns. Yesterday, we took the Dart to the City Center, where all the St. Patty's day parade and parties were happening. There were tons of people on the streets, mostly teenagers. The adults were in the bars all day drinking. Its amazing, there is a pub in every corner in the city of Dublin. We can not walk ten feet without running into another pub. The local food here is, seafood gumbo, lots of various potato dishes and beef dishes, but all in all its pretty American, burgers, sandwiches, and beer :)

We walked throughout Dublin today. We saw the Dublin Castle, went to Trinity College, the Dublin River, Liffuy, the Temple bar district and tons of cathedrals. A lot of the architecture of Dublin reminds me of Boston, MA. The churches and castles all seem to have inspired Bostons architecture.

We both have taken many pictures, but forgot our usb plug to download ;) so no pics for this post, but hopefully the next one.

The weather here is cloudy and cold! I love it, but the wind does get cold!

Tomorrow Sri and I have decided to visit the country side of Ireland, and then off to our next country.

St. Pattys in Dublin Update Twitter Style :)

Was anti-climatic... A bunch of teeni bobbers running around acting drunk with green hats and shirts. YAY.

We did go to a bar and have a Guinness and spoke to some locals, was fun.

We will post pics later! We are off to the country land!
